What You Need to Get Started
Professional real estate photography requires quality equipment. Here's what you'll need to join the network.
Camera & Essentials
RequiredFull-frame or APS-C sensor with manual controls
- DSLR or mirrorless camera
- Wide-angle lens (16-35mm or equivalent)
- Sturdy tripod with ball head
- 360 camera (Ricoh Theta Z1)
- Reliable laptop for uploads
Drone Equipment
For aerial photography services (optional)
- DJI or equivalent commercial drone
- FAA Part 107 license required
- Liability insurance recommended
- Spare batteries for longer shoots
FAA Part 107 License
Required for Drone WorkTo fly drones commercially in the United States, you must hold a valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. This is a federal requirement for all paid drone work.
You can start with photo-only jobs while working toward your Part 107 certification. Drone services are optional but increase your earning potential significantly.
